From Munich taking a train to Füssen you can take a day tour of the most beautiful fairytale castles! Travel to the magnificent Neuschwanstein and Linderhof castles, enjoy a delicious lunch in Hohenschwangau, and take a small detour through the quaint town of Oberammergau!
Visit the fairytale castles of Neuschwanstein and Linderhof, created by King Ludwig II of Germany at his own expense in the 19th century. Admire the magnificent landscapes of Bavaria as you travel to Linderhof, the only castle Ludwig II was able to complete, visit Ludwig’s Rococo hunting lodge and the last house. Take an inside tour and then continue to Neuschwanstein, a picture book of turrets and chambers that inspired Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Castle. Neuschwanstein Castle, nestled at the foot of the Alps, is one of the most impressive sights in Germany. Often known as Germany’s “Cinderella’s Castle”, Neuschwanstein actually inspired that of another Disney story, the “Sleeping Beauty” castle. Take a guided tour of the castle and hear stories about the “mad” King Ludwig II, who commissioned him in a desire to create his own fantasy castles. Take 4 hours to explore its grounds, admire the view of the lake, the gorge with the waterfall and Hohenschwangau Castle, Ludwig’s childhood home. Enjoy free time in the nearby Hohenschwangau village for lunch. A shopping stop cannot be missed in the pretty Oberammergau and get lost in the picturesque streets of this town!
