RYANAIR and CUNEO: an opportunity for economic growth for the area.

Ryanair’s scheduling at the Cuneo airport provides the cue for the industrial economic fabric to reflect on the strategic importance of collaboration with the Irish carrier for traffic growth and the resulting economic impact on the Cuneo area.

The will to overcome the difficult seasons of the pandemic, which deflagrantly affected air transportation and the entire industry related to it, prompted a proactive response to take advantage of the need for the return to travel.

In light of this scenario and the schedule of flights that Ryanair has launched at the airport, which is growing compared to the past, local institutions wanted to reflect on the strategic importance that increasing the activity of the airport infrastructure can have for the territory in this delicate historical phase.

“Today we are consolidating the partnership of the Cuneo airport, in which we have always believed, with Ryanair, one of the most important air carriers in the world,” says Chamber of Commerce President Mauro Gola. An efficient airport represents an important competitive advantage for tourism promotion, satisfies the population’s need for mobility, becomes an attractor of investment and an essential requirement for the growth of an area.”

“Our territory,” adds Province President Federico Borgna, “urgently needs forms of connection with the rest of the country and the world. The presence of Ryanair, consolidated by years of air service to Levaldigi, makes it a guarantee for the development of the Cuneo airport and, more generally, for the growth of our province Granda with its important productive fabric and economic activities related to tourism.”

The conference held today at the Province of Cuneo Meeting Center addressed issues related to the relationship between the airport system and territorial development, thanks to speakers Mauro Bolla Country Manager Italy of Ryanair, who addressed the issue of the synergy between local authorities, airline and airport and the development prospects that can result, and Bruno Rampinelli Rota, CEO of to70 Italy, who offered a broader and more technical view of the economic impact that air traffic can generate on the catchment area.

“Ryanair, as Europe’s and Italy’s No. 1 airline, is pleased to confirm its commitment to Piedmont with the announcement of summer operations from Cuneo that will include connections to Bari and Palermo, with 2 frequencies per week, and Cagliari – 3 frequencies per week.” said Mauro Bolla, Country Manager in Italy for Ryanair “This year marks our 14th anniversary since the start of our operations in Cuneo and we are delighted to celebrate this important milestone

with the recent launch of a strategic connection to Rome Fiumicino (4 weekly frequencies) that will help support the recovery of tourism in Cuneo and Piedmont after two difficult years.

To enable our customers and visitors to/from Cuneo to book their summer vacation at the lowest fares, we are launching a seat sale with fares available from only €19.99 for travel until October 2022, which must be booked by Friday, May 6. Since these super-low rates will sell out quickly, customers should log on to www.ryanair.com to avoid losing them.”

“With a little more than two thousand meters of asphalt, that is, the length of a runway, it is possible to connect an area to the world and let people discover the cultural, architectural, scenic and cultural beauties in which the Cuneo area is undoubtedly rich.” Bruno Rampinelli Rota, managing director of to70 Italy, stresses. “Air traffic generated by airport activities is one of the main multipliers for local economic activities related to tourism and for the economic fabric of the Province. There are indicators such as internationalization, the possibility of attracting financial and human capital investment that no statistics can actually quantify but which are direct consequences of air transport. It is necessary, therefore, to reinforce the concept that the airport lives with the territory and the territory with its airport.”
