In the late morning today – gThursday 21 January – the statue of the Madonna of Loreto, protector of aviators and travelers, arrived at Cuneo Levaldigi Airport. The Cuneo stage of the “Peregrinatio Mariae” is part of the initiatives of the Lauretan Jubilee granted by the Holy Father Pope Francis on the occasion of the centenary of the proclamation of the Madonna of Loreto as patroness of aeronauts. During his stay in Levaldigi, a Holy Mass is scheduled for Saturday 23 January at 4 pm and the recitation of a Holy Rosary on Tuesday 26 January at 8 pm. Due to the anti Covid measures in place, those interested in visiting the statue of Our Lady of Loreto to pray or to attend Holy Mass or the Holy Rosary must compulsorily book by calling 0172/741500 or by writing an email to marketing @ airport. cuneo.it. The number of places available is limited.

“The” Peregrinatio Mariae “of the effigy of Our Lady of Loreto ideally unites the Italian airports – declared the ENAC Director General Alessio Quaranta – with a message of hope addressed to the entire air transport community, both workers in the sector and passengers. The hope is to overcome, as soon as possible, the serious global health emergency and the profound economic crisis connected with it, which has also affected civil aviation, to resume flying and to make the whole sector fly “.

“We are happy to host a stage of the” Peregrinatio Mariae “at our Cuneo airport as part of the Lauretan Jubilee initiatives granted by Pope Francis for the centenary of the proclamation of Our Lady of Loreto patron saint of aeronauts – he said Giuseppe Viriglio , President of Geac, the company that manages the Levaldigi airport -. Having it here with us for a week, available to the faithful, is a further sign of integration of the Cuneo airport with the territory. We have been leaving for a disastrous year, the hope is to start all together again by collaborating with the institutions to also aim for a full relaunch, in safety, of civil aviation ”.

“The itinerant journey of the Statue of Our Lady of Loreto in Italian airports – commented the Deputy Vice President of Assaeroporti Fulvio Cavalleri – is, today more than ever, a symbol of hope and rebirth that urges us to look to the future more confidently. We hope that the pilgrimage of the Marian icon is a good omen for overcoming the current crisis so as to fully resume all that we had to sacrifice during the pandemic, including the flying activity that unites us all “.

The statue was welcomed on its arrival in Levaldigi by the Bishop of the Dioceses of Cuneo and Fossano Monsignor Piero Delbosco who, after a brief moment of prayer, gave a solemn blessing to all present. The statue was transferred to the check-in area of the airport where it will remain on display until Wednesday 27 January, when it will depart by plane in the direction of the Turin Caselle airport, continuing the pilgrimage.
